If you want to start up quicker then the other vehicles on the road then should you buy a sports car?

Is a sports car always the fastest car on the road? In otherwords, it's easier to get in front of other vehicles and start up as quickly as possible.

  1. No its the driver of the vehicle.
  2. NO...Buy one with a large engine!
  3. speed kills, most every time.....is it really that important to you to be in first? Geez, slow down a little and enjoy life, its short enough already.
  4. In general yes. It has more to do with torque rating and how the transmission and rear end are geared. Several years ago GMC had a pickup called the cyclone. It couldnt pull or haul hardly anything but for a short distance could actually outrun the corvette.
  5. Not ALL sports cars are fast. By definition, a "sports" car has two seats. A Fiat 850 Spider with two seats and 49HP has barely enough power to reach the speed of 60MPH. If you REALLY want to be king of the acceleration contest, buy an 750CC or larger motorcycle.
  6. not that you should ever speed or race, but sports cars are not necessary always the fastest cars. there are some sedans out there that can smoke most sports cars every day ( mb s55, bmw m5, audi s4 ). There are even some trucks that can do that to ( range rover sport, infitnit fx45, porsche cayenne sport turbo ). So just because you have a sports car doesn't mean you are always going to be the first one out the gate. if you are next to the wrong car and the wrong driver, you might get your feeling hurt !!!!
  7. Nope. The type vehicle has some to do with getting ahead of other traffic, but the biggest factor is experience. Driving is a skill. As you practice it, you get better at it. Knowing the vehicle, the terrain, the capabilities of the cars around you, the roadway and other factors are the ways to accomplish this task. Of course, all of the other drivers will just look at you and wonder what is wrong with you.
  8. hmmm.... i see a future fatality here....
