How did yellow become the standard color for construction vehicles?

Most vehicles I see on a construction site are yellow. However, how did this color get chosen?

1. common sense, it's an eye catcher and yellow is caution!
2. cause its a bright color and catches the peoples (drivers ) attention to beware
3. It catches people's attention, and it's also branding. Though I don't know the specifics, you do see bright yellow, green, and orange construction equipment. Whatever company makes their equipment yellow must just be doing a better job of making sales.
4. A lot of studies were done, and it has been shown that yellow/orange stands out to people most. I.E. hunters clothing, traffic vests, caution sighns, so on..
5. Easily seen, day or night--and it's a color easily caught by the human eye, even in foul weather. Bright colors tend to attract our attention more.
