How can hybrid vehicles contribute in reducing pollution?
Hybrid vehicles are produced with the help of electrolysis, and if Ethanol is used in the process, then the electricity generation is still less & hence, these vehicles are taken as helpers in reducing pollution. I need a few examples of hybrid vehicles & how do u think they can further reduce pollution? Please use simple terms, and kindly answer my question.

- No, because they still use fossil fuels which sooner or later will run out, Period. A better solution will be to perfect and miniaturize photovoltaic and solar, which would provide free power all the way down the line
- Hybrid vehicles are a new product of the automobile industry. Such vehicles are becoming more illustrious as they are very efficient and reduce pollution ................................................................................................................................................ Environmental Impacts Air Quality: Hybrid vehicles offer a great improvement on the air quality emissions for vehicles that are powered by gasoline. According to The Green Car Club, hybrids reduce health-threatening tailpipe emissions by 90% and evaporative emissions to almost zero. (The Green Car Club) The hybrid vehicle does contribute to green house emissions just at a reduced rate because the fuel that powers the hybrid comes from a petroleum based fuel. Fuel Production: The pollution associated with the production of fuel for hybrids is the same as the pollution created in the production of fuel for gasoline vehicles because they both use gasoline. The pollution is somewhat reduced for a hybrid vehicle because the vehicle has greater fuel efficiency. There is considerable pollution related to the production of gasoline. Gasoline contains MTBE which is a known cancer causing agent and can cause birth defects if a pregnant mother is exposed to it. Petroleum extraction and transportation has led to some of the worst ecological disasters that the planet has seen. When the Exxon-Valdez capsized it released millions of gallons of petroleum onto pristine coastlines. The environmental damage was monumental. The destruction of the rainforest is rarely associated with petroleum extraction. However the discovery of vast oil reserves and the subsequent drilling of these reserves in Venezuela and other Latin American countries near the equator, has led to the destruction of tropical rainforests. Vehicle Production Pollution: The production process for the hybrid vehicle is very different than the production process of a gasoline vehicle. There are similarities especially in regards to the production of the gasoline powered engine. Thus the production of the gasoline powered engine in the hybrid is similar to that of a gasoline powered vehicle however the addition of the electric engine increases the environmental impact of the production of the hybrid vehicle. The greatest environmental impact comes from the pollution caused by the elaborate battery system that powers the electric engine. The battery pollution is substantial because the creation of the batteries requires destructive mining to produce the batteries and the caustic substances that power the batteries must later be disposed of. The caustic substances that power the batteries are very poisonous and when released into the environment leech into the waterways and poison groundwater. ................................................................................................................................................ - ok so this is how i think they run, the battery gets charged and when it does get charged the car runs on its battery until the battery runs out after that it runs on gas until the battery is fully charged, and so it runs on battery again. Therefore using half as much gas. i think this is how they run (most logical) hope it helps :D
- hybrid vehicles cover a large area as to what they offer, not all are alike. some run on E85 a fuel based on corn and containing little if any petrolium based product. others use an electric over gas combo. these work off of battery power driving electric wheel motors under a set speed. above that speed a small gasoline engine takes over and propels the car. again many different versions here. I believe the future could see an even smaller engine used solely for recharging batterys, this engine could be run on natural gas, E85,synthetic diesel, etc. the system would require a special designed battery perhaps a lithiam design, fast recharge with a very large capacity. parts of the auto would use solar power such as interior lights, clocks, even air circulating fans to help in interior comfort. at higher speeds this vehicle could use the tires spinning to generate some power. pollution control is more than exhaust emissions though, leaks from a car are as well. a well cared for car is not only better on your wallet its better on the environment. consider this, after a fresh rain most roads have oil rise to the surface and slicken the roads causing lots of problems. much of this oil is from our cars. it washes to the shoulder in time with the rains where it starts to soak into the soil, the soil that may be leaching into your water table. this is yet another pollution. hybrids may reduce this problem though elimination will be far, far tougher than just this.
- They may reduce pollution somewhat, but they use oil in their engines such as regular cars, and the batterypacks in hybrids that help provide energy eventually willl run out, and require replacing. Also, there is an issue with the weight balance of certain hybrids such as the older Prius wearing down the tires at a more rapid rate than one would find on a fossil fuel vehicle. The only way to further reduce pollution, is not to drive at all.
