What are the pros and cons of statism/government control of healthcare?
I've been reading articles by healthcare economists for the past 2 hours, and I feel like most of it is over my head and still don't really understand the problems and benefits associated with universal healthcare, as opposed to the system we have now. Could someone break it down for me in lay terms? I am trying to become educated on the subject instead of blindly following partisan soundbite or the opinions my family has, but it's impossible to find an unbiased source. Thanks for helping, anyone that answers!

- pros - ... I really don't think there are any worth listing. Cons - high cost - long lines - some people will be denied - over worked dr's - lower quality - long waiting periods - denial of some services - lack of competition - drop in production of new discoveries.
- the biggest two points in this debate are: 1 the minority 10% of people who can't afford, or who decide not to buy private health care will now have SOMETHING at least, even if it's bad. 2.The majority, at least 75%, will have their insurance brought down to a miserable level of service so that all of us can be the same!
- look at the va and see how they are treating our heroes
