What are some good mutual funds in which to invest?
I have $30k in cash that got rolled over from a 401K when I was laid off in January. I need some advice on some trustworth mutual funds that I can buy into.

- You're asking total strangers what to do with $30,000? I would go seek a professional advisor with no less than 15 years of actual stock market experience. The advisor should sit down with you and come up with a game plan for your long term retirement needs, understand goals, objectives, risk, your current situation, and will address other questions. I would not just indiscriminately buy a bunch of mutual funds cause they were posted on the Internet. What I would consider is dollar cost averaging in the S&P 500 Index for part of those long term (15-20 year retirement objectives). see my post here fore more info on the S&P 500: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AstqXDn9MU3VqN6tYQaE.rzsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20090505075543AAx69Wj&show=7#profile-info-559bd7be0d3ce8d891cd0eb568521ddbaa Also, if you go the mutual fund route (cough cough), I would not pick funds based on performance history. If that is the main criteria, then that is the incorrect investment approach.
- Not the most ideal place to solicit financial advice but it all depends on your risk tolerance and investment horizon. Most people are semi-conservative and willing to hold for 10 years or more. Since interest rates are at an all time low a number of folks (myself included) are capitalizing on bond funds. Bond prices are inversely proportional to interest rates. Interest rates go down then bonds rally higher. It's always still wise not to put all your eggs in one basket and still diversify your portfolio. Talk to an advisor.
