How does universal healthcare in Europe work? My professor today mentioned that most European countries have universal healthcare. This means that everyones healthcare is provided by the state, correct? How much more money do people pay in taxes in Europe than in the U.S.? It would have to be more since their healthcare is covered, right?
How would Universal Healthcare impact the advacement of medicine? I think that unversal healthcare would be detrimental to the advancement of human medicine. Drug companies would tirelessly to develop a breakthrough drug or a cure for a disease because they know it would be a huge payout. Would they have such a large incentive if the government would be paying them? Also, I heard that universal healthcare would result in everyone getting healthcare, but it would involve long lines. Everyone would get treated for cancer and not worry about the bill but they would have to wait 6 months for treatment. What are your thoughts?
What is a conservative solution to healthcare? 47 million Americans dont have healthcare. I know about 60% of that number is illegal immigrants and many more are people that make $75,000 per year and choose not to get it. That still leaves millions of americans that dont have healthcare. The liberals say universal healthcare is the solution. What is a conservative solution to the problem?
What are differences healthcare funding around the world? I am most interested in a good detailed resource for healtcare funding around the world (England, France, Germany, US, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina) I mostly need to know how Healthcare if funded. For example in Japan, private employers of over 700 employees, healthcare is funded through payroll taxes. Though I do not know if the tax is 100% paid by employees or the Employer pays something, too.
What healthcare job is least likely to risk a lawsuit? I know Doctors pay a hefty sum for malpractice insurance, but are nurses likely to get sued as well? What job in the healthcare industry is least likey to get sued for malpractice? Please no desk jobs like medical transcriptions or coding.
What healthcare providers cover orthognathic surgery and how much does it cost? I'm with bluecross blueshield and they exclude this surgery. The real pain is my company just switched to blueshield from aetna, who does cover it. Just my luck. This surgery is very important to me, I want to fix my underbite. Does anyone know what healthcare providers cover this, and what employers use it so I know where to apply to get this insurance? Or at least recommend an oral surgeon that knows what he's doing and is somewhat affordable? Thanks.
What is the conservative plan for providing healthcare to those who cannot afford it? Is this a case of "You don't have healthcare because you are poor, minority, lazy, stupid and useless and therefore don't deserve it?" Why do so many working class people without healthcare not see that their interests are not being served by letting the AMA and insurance companies dictate healthcare reform by making massive donations to conservative politicians and blatantly distorting the truth about the administration's reform plans?
What are some websites that healthcare payors use? I'm trying to look into the healthcare industry as a possible career. I was just wondering what kind of sites healthcare payors use to see how their day to day is and what kind of information they look at. Thanks.

How do i break into the healthcare industry? I have a strong science background and have worked as a business executive for several years. I would like to break into the healthcare industry but dont want to go to a school to do it. What does the healthcare reform mean for me? Now that the bill has passed I need to know. I don't really keep up to date with current events, so could someone explain to me what the healthcare reform is and what it means to me as an individual?
How is the healthcare reform bill going to pursuade black men to get their prostates checked? when people talk about healthcare in the US they seldom bring up the multitude of cultural issues. Namely, black men regardless of income or education, do not like to get prostate examinations, which is one of the reasons why they have a higher incidents of prostate cancer deaths than whites (btw, white Americans have the highest survival rates for prostate cancer in the world). The government cannot force men to bend over and get anally probed..can it?
What exactly is the healthcare section of the air force? I am planning to go into nursing anyways and the Air Force would be a great source of financial aid. How long can the healthcare industry sustain the fledging US economy? According to yahoo news the healthcare industry is the only sector in the economy which is seeing sustained job growth and increased wages. This can't possibly last forever. Will the health care industry get Walmartized meaning they'll eventually have a glut of people and start paying everyone $8.00 an hour like all the other industries are trying to do?
What are the healthcare foundations that are linked to celebrities? When I say "linked to celebrities" I mean, if the celebrities actually have the "disease" or a family member that suffered from the disease that they are campaigning for? It seems that the celebrities that are "representing" these healthcare foundations out there are all getting paid...please give me the name of a few that are not and the healthcare foundation they represent. I am trying to find at least 20 different legit healthcare foundations giving back to the patient and not to a pharma or medical company. Thank you.

What is the difference between Obamacare and other state-owned healthcare? I'm a Brit and trying to work out what the healthcare is going to be changed to soon in America. As far as I can tell it's far different from what its like here in European countries, such as the NHS in Britain. So could anyone who understands how healthcare works in different countries please explain what the difference is between Obamacare and other state-owned healthcare?
Why does healthcare in the United States rank 37th in the world? I would expect it to be in the top 15. Costa Rica and Chile have better healthcare than the US, and there 2nd world countries. Hospitals and medical facilities in the US use some of the most modern equipment. I know a lot of Americans are uninsured, is that why? And also when the world health organization rates countries healthcare system, what do they base it on?
What canidates healthcare plan would be best for my family? Right now my parents are unemployed and our health insurance runs out tomorrow so I am a bit concerned on how my family can get proper healthcare since both of my parents take daily medication.Which canidates healthcare plan would help my family?
What do you think about all these Democratic reforms on healthcare? They want to create a healthcare system for everyone. This would be good, but they are not getting to the root of the problem. Healthcare does not make people healthy, nor does taking a pill. These temporarily fix the problem. Eating healthy and exercise make you healthy. I believe that any business that serves unhealthy food or products ie(fast food , cigarettes) should pay for the healthcare system. I know some of you are going to say it is a persons choice to do those things and I agree, but when I have to pay for them through my taxes I have no choice. So because of their bad choices I have to pay. Let me know what you think. I have some other ideas that I will ask later. I just want to see some feedback.
What canidates healthcare plan would benefit my family? Right now my parents are unemployed and our health insurance runs out tomorrow so I am a bit concerned on how my family can get proper healthcare since both of my parents take daily medication.Which canidates healthcare plan would help my family?
How can citizens be denied healthcare and education in a supposedly free country? Many of the working poor don't qualify for Medicaid, Pell Grants, or student loans, yet can't afford private insurance or tuition. They are effectively denied healthcare and education. This is a crime against humanity. The UN should invade the US and impose democracy on this one-party aristocracy masquerading as a two-party republic.
How is Obama's healthcare plan going to socialize medicine? He's not going to shut down any current healthcare corporations, he's not mandating that you have to have insurance, he's saying health care should be affordable and that no one should be denided coverage. If anything his plan is going to provide more competition and make the industry step up its game Brooke, you seem to be missing the detail that people will still be paying to be insured, they will be paying the government program instead. You pay for Medicare and Medicad. Should those be cut too?
How do you certify a healthcare web application software? Hi there, I am just curious on the exact procedure to officially certify a web application software that will be used by clinical doctors and staff members. From what I know preliminarily, it needs to go through the HIPAA certification. Is that correct? Thanks! Healthcare Problem Solver Thanks, is HIPAA the only necessary certification?

How many liberals really think healthcare will now be free? Conservatives love to make this claim. They say that liberals just want a free ride off the backs of hard-working tax payers. Here's a chance to prove them right. How many liberals out there honestly think that reform = free healthcare?
If healthcare costs continue to spiral, will the only insurance option left is the one underwritten by taxes? If healthcare costs continue to spiral, will the only insurance option left is the one underwritten by tax-payers? Will this ultimately causes the greatest deficits as a percentage of GDP that we have ever seen? Since healthcare costs generally spiral out-of-control becuase the recipient of a medical service is disconnected from the payer of the service. The NancyPelosi and Harry Reid Plans dramatically increases that divide in an effort to bring healthcare to 30+ million more people who do not currently pay for any healthcare.
Healthcare - is using fear as a tactic more effective than trying to explain complicated issues to the public? This is essentially the challenge for Democrats. The healthcare changes are very complex and the general public is pretty stupid. People don't like change, and always fear what they don't know, which is what the Republicans are using to make people afraid of the new law. Is it always easier to just use fear (Bush - Iraq - WMD - terrorists coming to get you in your sleep, etc.) instead of trying to explain complex things to the public, like the complex relationships between countries in The Middle East that greatly affect terrorism?
What makes you think Universal healthcare is the way to go? ^^^ I want to know what is going on in the head of a democrat in favor of universal healthcare. I just want to know why you want it, and why you think it would work better than what they have in canada and england. I am not going to argue with you, but I want you to try to persuade me.
how does anyone think US healthcare is a fair and just system? employers are allowed to write off their health care expenses for their employees......if you pay for your own healthcare its not only going to cost you much much more, you cant write off a single cent,,,unless it becomes so large your assets are seized.

I was interested in the free housing, travel assignments, benefits and flexibility. There are so many different companies out there. How is it possible for socialized healthcare to work? Seriously, look at all of the other countries that have it, Canada for one. They come to the U.S. for operations and other medical procedures! Sorry, but that just tells me that attempting to socialize healthcare can do nothing fail here. Can anyone explain this thought away?
How much Can I start out making with a healthcare mgmt MBA? I am getting my graduate school paid for and I am recieving my MBA in healthcare management. How much can you start out making as a healthcare management MBA grad? Thanks!
How often do presidents actually implement their pre-election healthcare plan? There is all of this hype about the US healthcare situation - as there should be, but there has been healthcare hype during every election I have been old enough to understand. Similarly, I have never felt a difference in US healthcare between different administration's healthcare plans. Maybe it is because I have been employed with healthcare as a benefit and I never use it really.
How should we fix the the Healthcare system? I've read hundreds of articles as to why individualized healthcare is better than socialized healthcare and its all just so overwhelming. How do you think we should fix the healthcare system? And don't give me half-ass answers. Give me something well thought out.
What are the differences between universal healthcare and socialized medicine? Universal healthcare provides a government funded insurance plan that all citizens qualify for and healthcare providers are still largely private, however with socialized medicine doctors and nurses are now government employee. I see it as Canada being universal, while the US military healthcare as socialized medicine. Correct me if I am wrong. Is there any other differences? Will I don't think providing healthcare to those do not have it "sucks", especially in the case of children. Jusme: Under that type of logic, we already have nationalized healthcare because of NIH. You know there is a difference.
Where to find good unbiased information on the healthcare reform? It seems like most of the information on the healthcare reform is so skewed one way or another. I was assigned to write a report 10-12 p. on who wins and loses. In particular this should focus on the different healthcare industries since it is for an investments class. An ideas where to start my search?

How can I start a career in Healthcare? I have a bachelor's in business, but now I want to go to school for physical therapy. I have no experience in healthcare whatsoever. What are some things I should do to work towards my new career goal? What are some places that I should try and work while going to school? I would really like to spend my time wisely and not waste it working in petty jobs such as retail stores.
How do we change healthcare for the better? I am a physician, trying to learn business principles and apply them to healthcare. I recently joined a large healthcare company, and truly believe that people want to help others here (corny, but true) I'm throwing everything but the kitchen sink here (quantitative analysis, Six Sigma, LEAN, WorkOUT and CAP), hoping something will stick, and am even trying to learn innovative design, just so we can start making things cheaper so people can afford it, and get (and understand) what they need. I want to get HC professionals to collaborate, almost in an Open Source way, but don't know where to start; any suggestions?
What impact would National Healthcare have on American society? I know a large number of people who are working at jobs they don’t necessarily like because that job gives healthcare benefits. Who will take those jobs if healthcare is free? Will we lose good workers to lesser positions because they don’t need benefits? How many people will stop working entirely? Benefits are a great incentive. What effects, large and small, will the loss of that incentive have on our overall economy, society, and culture? r1b1c*: Hey thanks for the geography/semantics lesson. Are you just popping by every ‘America’ question just to make that same observation? Not the best way to contribute, I’d think.
How do I break through employment barriers at healthcare corperations? I have a blog about employment in the healthcare industry. I want to write about how people can get hiring advantages over a typical prospective employee at hospital chains and scientific companies (J&J, etc). Any tips? For example, how does one contact a specific hiring manager at XYZ corp?
What are the pros and cons to national healthcare? I'm writing an argument based research paper on national healthcare, but don't know enough about it to decide which side to take for my paper. If you know of any websites I could go to, it would be helpful. Thanks!
How can I find a position in the healthcare field? Recent college graduate seeks a Healthcare Management position. Have been working as a Home Health Aide for seven years Have Customer Service, sales, marketing, and collection experience, along with many business classes in human resources, business strategy, and accounting.
How would McCain guarantee affordable healthcare for all? Healthcare costs are hurting the budgets of working families, businesses, states and the federal government. Don't tell me someone is looking for a handout when it comes to something as basic as healthcare. A simple accident can wipe out hard-won savings in any family. Now how's McCain gonna do it? Please?
What are the pros and cons of statism/government control of healthcare? I've been reading articles by healthcare economists for the past 2 hours, and I feel like most of it is over my head and still don't really understand the problems and benefits associated with universal healthcare, as opposed to the system we have now. Could someone break it down for me in lay terms? I am trying to become educated on the subject instead of blindly following partisan soundbite or the opinions my family has, but it's impossible to find an unbiased source. Thanks for helping, anyone that answers!
How big a role is mainstream media playing in this reformation of public healthcare? Same old, same old days for healthcare are over so why do the cretin old senators like GOP Sen. Pat Roberts and GOP Sen. Chuck Grassley keep talking crazy? The status quo has to go, fat cat healthcare won't be around no mo. This is the national showdown for the Repug Robber Barrons. This is the real line in the sand. It is time for them to go.
What are some healthcare jobs that require little or no certification or educational training? I'm a Pre-Healthcare student at a four-year university and I'm looking for ways to get my foot in the door of the hospital or clinical setting. I've done a little shadowing but I live a good distance from suburban areas so I've been hesitant to spend a lot of gas money on driving for simple, not-very-useful volunteer experience (giving water to patients, etc.) Any ideas would be very helpful. Thanks in advance.
What's next dems after healthcare? What other trillion dollar giveaway is on your radar? Dems HAVE to buy votes to win seats; they can't win with ideas of freedom, individuality, and standing on your own two feet. After you dems socialize and destroy healthcare, what is the next trillion dollar boondoggle? What else are you going to give away? Will you dems only stop when we're a communist nation where the wealth is distributed evenly and fairly?
Has anyone ever used Healthcare Creditline to get dental work done? If so, is it hard to get approved for because I have heard that it is. This is the only financing my dentist offers and I don't really know anything about Healthcare Creditline, I've never heard of them. I've tried to do research to learn more about it but their website doesn't really help me and I can't find anything else about it. I was just wanting some people's opinion about it who have used it before. Thanks!
Healthcare - does the burden lie with the person or the government? It's without a doubt that the health care system in the U.S has received a lot of media coverage and is an important issue to politicians. According to studies, polls and research it's appearant that many people agree with its current state and many who feel they're not getting the best quality healthcare. Are you, as a citizen of the U.S., concerned/worried about the current system we have in place and are happy with the healthcare you receive or are you for health care system reform and/or socialized health care?
What % of these anti-healthcare reform posts are paid propaganda from the healthcare industry? I heard they are paying a small army of people to flood the internet with lies and scare tactics. We already have "socialized" healthcare..poor people show up at the hospital and by law, get treated. Obama is just trying to organize it so they get preventative care and don't let minor health problems turn into major health problems. Remember, the healthcare industry doesn't profit if you are in good health, only if you are sick.
What is your expectation/opinion of healthcare when it comes to your children? There just seem to be so many people around here that have a negative view of doctors, vaccines, and healthcare in general. Do you trust your doctor? I'm trying pretty hard not to rant here because I work in healthcare and it's hard not to be defensive at times. Also, what country do you live in? I have wondered if socialized medicine makes a difference on people's opinions.
How does the US healthcare system work for the uninsured? We hear that tens of millions of Americans have no healthcare cover. So what happens to the poor and uninsured if the worst happens? If such an individual is hurt in a car crash (for example), is emergency care free? How about follow-up medical care such as physiotherapy etc?
